St.Helens Women are delighted to welcome Jadine McVernon to the Club ahead of the 2026 season!
A standout performer for the Salford Red Devils Women’s team over the past couple of seasons, Jadine comes to the Saints looking to step up into the elite level of Women’s Rugby League.
Beginning her journey with local community side Heysham Atoms, the back-rower took a punt on a trial with the Red Devils, where she played across the past two seasons.
The 26-year-old was scouted by the Saints whilst playing winter league matches with Orrell St James. She was invited to come and work with the Red V and leapt at the opportunity, telling saintsrlfc.com: “I am so excited! This is literally a dream come true for me, and I couldn’t be any happier!
“I’ve already been asking a million questions at training. Being able to train and play alongside really good players is amazing. It’s about picking up little habits and learning what makes them the players they are, and that’s something I’m really looking forward to.”
Jadine’s first interview as a St.Helens Women’s player will be available on Saints TV in a couple of days for subscribers.
Jadine has already been getting stuck in with St.Helens Women as part of the pre-season preparations, with her main goal being to enjoy the sport and then earn the chance to pull on the famous Red V shirt.
“Pre-season has been really tough, but tough in a good way. Those are the challenges I want to push myself through to grow as a player, and training’s been really good.
“Hopefully, I can get some game time under my belt, and just putting that shirt on would be amazing.”
Joint Head Coach of St.Helens Women, Craig Richards, welcomed McVernon to the Club and said: “When we went scouting around the community game, Jadine stood out to us straight away as someone who was leading the team in the pack.
“Her work rate caught the eye, and we saw someone who could potentially fit the type of player we want. Then we spoke to her and saw what a great person she is as well, a great leader who could add to our group.
“It’s been a pleasure to bring Jadine on board, and she is working hard to reach the levels we want her to be at.”
