Head Coach Paul Rowley has named his 21-man St.Helens squad ahead of this Friday night's Betfred Challenge Cup fixture against Workington Town.
Taking place in West Cumbria at the Fibrus Community Stadium (also known as Derwent Park), kick-off is scheduled for 7:30pm.
It will be the first meeting between the two sides since the 1996 season, 30 years on from the Saints’ historic Double with the first-ever Super League title and the Challenge Cup, signalling the start of a period of dominance in the Summer Era of the sport.
This fixture is incredibly exciting for many reasons, with it serving as the first competitive match with Paul Rowley in charge of the Saints, but it could also mark the final time a Super League club visits Derwent Park, as Workington Town have submitted plans for a new stadium in the future.
Workington got to this stage of the knockout competition following a victory over St Helens community club Blackbrook ARLFC. It was a fantastic effort from Blackbrook in the Second Round but the Cumbrian outfit proved to be too strong, winning 28-6.
SQUAD NEWS
Paul Rowley could hand official club debuts out to six Saints on Friday night, with five of our 2026 recruits named in the 21. Those men are: David Klemmer, Jacob Host, Joe Shorrocks, Nene Macdonald and Jackson Hastings.
Saints Academy talent Tom Humphreys is also included after joining our First Team environment for the first time ahead of the 2026 season. If selected to play and make his debut, Humphreys would then be allocated an official squad number. It marks the first time that the young hooker has been named in St.Helens’ senior 21-man squad.
