St.Helens' Third Round tie in the 2026 Betfred Challenge Cup will be shown live on The Sportsman Rugby League YouTube channel.
St.Helens take on Workington Town away from home this Friday, 6th February 2026, at the Fibrus Community Stadium (also known as Derwent Park), with kick-off scheduled for 7:30pm.
The Sportsman Rugby League coverage will begin at 7:15pm, allowing fans to tune in early and ensure they do not miss a moment of Paul Rowley’s first competitive fixture as Head Coach of St Helens.
Rowley takes his Saints to West Cumbria to face Workington Town in the first meeting between the two sides since the 1996 season. It is fitting that the Red V will begin the 2026 competitive campaign with a visit to Workington, the same venue where the Club kicked off the inaugural Super League season back in 1996.
Throughout 2026, the club is celebrating 30 years since an historic Double, when St Helens R.F.C. secured the first-ever Super League title and the Challenge Cup, signalling the start of a period of dominance in the Summer Era of the sport.
Workington Town progressed to this stage of the 2026 Betfred Challenge Cup following a victory over St Helens community club Blackbrook ARLFC. It was a valiant effort from Blackbrook in the Second Round; however, Town proved too strong, winning 28-6.
This fixture could also mark the final time a Super League club visits Derwent Park, as Workington Town have submitted plans for a new stadium in the future.
With so much to look forward to as the new season gets underway – and with this being the first meeting between Saints and Workington in 30 years – The Sportsman Rugby League will broadcast this exciting fixture live and for free on YouTube.
