St.Helens can confirm that prop forward Alex Walmsley is expected to be unavailable to play for around six weeks following a foot injury.
Confirmed by Head Coach Paul Rowley in his pre-match press conference held on Tuesday afternoon, the Saints’ number eight powered through last weekend’s match against Catalans Dragons to help the team earn a strong victory.
Surgery will not be required, as a small plus, but he will need to take time with the rehabilitation of the injury.
Paul Rowley commented: “Alex will be in a boot for a little bit and just have to take time.
“I think he was fantastic at the weekend. He was clearly in pain, even from the warm-up we got a call saying he was no good but the damage to his foot was in a way that if he played and he can handle the pain and it wouldn’t do any further damage. He decided that he would get through it, and he did. I thought he was a really important contributor to the win.”
Everyone at St.Helens R.F.C. would like to wish Alex the very best with his recovery.
