Saints TV: Rowley reflects on win over Bradford

Paul Rowley spoke to the press following St.Helens' hard-fought win over Bradford Bulls, 26-22, in Round 4 of the Betfred Super League.

The Saints boss praised the character of his players after they battled hard to secure victory over a highly motivated Bulls side.

Rowley’s men were forced to deal with disruption during the match, including fresh injury concerns such as Jacob Host who sadly looks to have broken his leg. However, Rowley felt his team again showed the resilience that has helped them find ways to win games in this early period of the season.

Admitting it had been a long and physically demanding contest, he credited Bradford for the test they provided, highlighting their ability to punish teams that try to play too loosely and stressing the importance of the Saints’ defensive effort and territorial control.

He added that the impact of the bench, including the use of Harry Robertson in a rotational role, has been an important factor in the team’s recent results. He was also keen to correct the assembled media that Robertson was not “dropped” to the bench, he was part of his planned tactics for the fixture.
