St.Helens outside back Deon Cross scored the decisive four-pointer in our Round 4 win over Bradford Bulls and spoke to Saints TV after the game.
Cross admitted Bradford caused plenty of problems throughout the match, and came into the game in good form, so he Saints expected a difficult contest and were forced to work hard to come away with the win.
For that key moment of the match, he considered the option of passing outside to Lewis Murphy but then backed himself to go for the line instead and was pleased to get over after going low and digging into the try line. With time still left on the clock after the try, the focus quickly turned to staying composed and seeing the game out.
In what was a scrappy game, Cross believed Bradford thrived when the game became scrappy, and Saints sometimes struggled to deal with those chaotic spells and will need to be better in those moments. Despite that frustration, Deon knew the most important thing was getting the result and moving forward with the two competition points.
With injuries mounting, the Red V are doing it tough, so the likes of Cross and the rest of the available Saints are happy to play wherever the team needs.
Deon also looked ahead to the Challenge Cup clash with Castleford Tigers next week, and he encourages the Saints faithful to get behind the team as we look to continue in the competition.
