Tristan Sailor talks about the excitement in the St.Helens squad as we look to continue our Challenge Cup campaign in 2026 over at Castleford Tigers.
After getting his first taste of the competition last year, Sailor is keen for the team to go much further this time around.
Our number six spoke about the rich history the Cup holds at our club, and the motivation that comes with it. Not only is it the first opportunity to get silverware in the season, but it also offers the chance to play at Wembley. Seeing historical images of the teams from our storied past, such as the Saints side of 1996, celebrating in the town on open-top buses, that is something Tristan would love to experience.
The Red V are down on troops through injury, but Sailor believes the squad has handled the adversity so far in 2026 well. He pointed to the depth within the group and the versatility in the squad, which allows different players to step in and do their job when called upon.
Sailor himself has had to move between positions at times this season. While he would like to settle into one role, he is happy to adapt for the benefit of the team.
Looking ahead to Saturday’s game, Sailor expects a tough test. Trips to Castleford are always hostile, with the crowd so close to the pitch. Both teams will be ready to throw everything into the knockout tie.
