Saints squad named for Good Friday 2026

Head Coach Paul Rowley has announced his 21-man St.Helens squad ahead of this Friday's Rivals Round matchup against Wigan Warriors.

The Biggest Derby In Rugby League, the traditional Good Friday meeting between Saints and Wigan, will be played at the BrewDog Stadium on Friday, 3rd April 2026, with kick-off scheduled for 3pm.

It is always an exciting match when the Red V meet the Cherry & Whites, but the Good Friday fixture is one that is synonymous with both the history and passion of both clubs. With the sold-out signs going up three weeks in advance of this game, the anticipation for this upcoming clash is already at fever pitch.

Saints fans will fondly recall the last Good Friday home match against Wigan. It was a memorable day as St.Helens fought to win the contest in the final minutes to secure a 12-4 victory, ending a 15-match winning run for the Warriors and allowing us to claim the Derby Day spoils.

Both teams head into Rivals Round looking to respond to losses in the previous week. Saints suffered a heavy away loss to Hull KR, whilst the Warriors fell to a strong defeat against bottom of the table and winless Huddersfield. So both sides arrive with a point to prove, setting the stage for what promises to be an intense, high-stakes encounter.

📰 SQUAD NEWS

Paul Rowley makes three changes to the squad he declared for Round 6.

Mark Percival, George Delaney and Cole Marsh step out of selection, with both Percival and Delaney picking up injuries from last week’s match against Hull KR. The pair are still being assessed.

The Saints bring into the 21-man squad two loan players from Hull KR, with prop forward Jordan Dezaria and hooker Bill Leyland. Our third Saint stepping into the side is young Academy Saint Chris Matagi, who has been in the named squad in recent weeks.

Five players are therefore in contention to make their senior debuts with St.Helens on Good Friday; the pair from Hull KR, and three Saints Academy talents; Tom Humphreys, Billy Keeley and Chris Matagi. If any of them are selected to play in the match against Wigan, they would then be allocated an official squad number.
