The Saints Women had been hard at work in pre-season ahead of this opening fixture, looking to improve on the 2025 season, which ended without a trophy in our cabinet despite reaching both the Challenge Cup Final and Women’s Super League Grand Final.
Craig Richards and Derek Hardman had assembled their squad, with the return of Paige Travis from the NRLW, more promoted Saints Women’s Academy talents, and further additions with the likes of Emme & Jadine McVernon, and Mikayla Gillespie.
Huddersfield came into this fixture and season in a buoyant mood after adding further experienced players to their ranks, with an ambition to be the team to break into the top four WSL teams.
