St.Helens R.F.C. can regrettably confirm that Jake Wingfield has sadly suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and will require surgery.
Jake Wingfield is proudly sponsored by LDM Slate Roofing at the Saints.
The versatile forward picked up the injury during the first half of the Betfred Challenge Cup Quarter-Final fixture against Catalans Dragons last Friday night at the BrewDog Stadium.
Following scans over the weekend, the news was sadly confirmed that it was an ACL rupture, and it unfortunately means that Jake will play no further part in the Saints’ 2026 season.
Surgery will be booked in for Jake as soon as possible, and then his rehabilitation will begin, with the Club lending our full support to him at this tough time.
Head Coach Paul Rowley commented: “Firstly, on behalf of everyone at the Club, our thoughts are with Jake at this time. I know we all get around him and lend him and his family our full support.
“For such a professional, hard-working young man, it’s gutting news, and we know he deserves so much better than this news. He’s a fantastic lad who we love, and we’ll make sure our medical staff and more will support him.”
Everyone at the Club sends our best wishes to Wingy.
