St.Helens' young outside back Owen Dagnall reflects on the start of the 2026 season and talks about his aims as we head past a third of the way through the campaign.
The young winger is expecting a tough test as Saints welcome Wakefield Trinity to the BrewDog Stadium on Saturday evening. Trinity come into the game in good form, and Dagnall knows they will offer a big challenge. After last year’s meetings all going in the Saints’ favour, he knows to expect a response.
Dagnall has seen more game time in recent weeks and is keen to take his chance. He admits there have been a few lessons along the way, especially defensively, but feels he is improving with each outing. Work on the training field alongside teammates and coaches has helped sharpen that side of his game, and he’s growing in confidence.
After getting his first try of the season, Dagnall is looking to build on that and add more, knowing that finishing chances is a big part of his job on the wing.
He also points to the group of young players coming through together, many of whom have made the step up at the same time, as a real positive for the squad.
