Saints squad to face York Knights at home

Head Coach Paul Rowley has confirmed his 21-man St.Helens squad ahead of Friday's match against York Knights.

St.Helens First Team 21-man squad announcements are sponsored by R Whitle Ltd.

This match will take place at our home on Friday night, 1st May 2026, and kick-off is scheduled for 8:00pm at the BrewDog Stadium.

It should be a special night as the Saints and the Knights meet for the very first time in the Betfred Super League. The two clubs have not faced one another since 2015, when the Red V beat the Knights 46-6 in the Challenge Cup.

Paul Rowley’s Saints are in a good vein of form, currently holding the second spot in the league table and preparing for the Betfred Challenge Cup Semi-Final next Saturday afternoon. Our squad extended their winning streak to four successive matches with a hard-fought 18-12 victory over in-form Wakefield Trinity.

Meanwhile, York, currently 10th in the table, arrive to our ground full of confidence after a strong Round 9 win. Mark Applegarth’s men secured a 38-14 win over Toulouse Olympique at the LNER Community Stadium, ending a five-match losing run.

The Saints will also be wearing our 2026 Third Kit, inspired by the Club’s iconic 1996 Away Kit.

Tickets are available online NOW – with further details listed below.

📰 SQUAD NEWS

Coach Rowley makes two changes to the squad that was victorious over Wakefield Trinity last Saturday evening.

It’s a huge boost to welcome back Saints’ number one Jack Welsby to our 21-man squad. He suffered a shoulder injury in February during the opening round of the Betfred Super League season. The England international needed surgery and was expected to be out for about four months, but he has worked hard on his injury rehabilitation, and Welsby has managed to return and make himself available for selection.

As was confirmed on Tuesday evening, Hull KR loanee Bill Leyland returns to the Club on a short-term loan and is also in contention to play against York on Friday night at the BrewDog Stadium.

Young Saints Alfie Sinclair and Billy Keeley are the two players who come out of the squad from last week.
