Jake Davies signs new deal with Saints

St.Helens R.F.C. is delighted to announce that rising star Jake Davies has signed a two-year contract extension!

Jake Davies is proudly sponsored by Solenis.

A proud product of the Saints Academy, the 19-year-old first joined the Club from local community side Halton Farnworth Hornets on trial, and after impressing, he earned a place in our Scholarship side.

The back-rower progressed into our Under-18s side and was part of the squad that won the Academy Championship in 2023. He was also selected for the Lancashire and England Academy representative sides.

Stepping up into our First Team squad from the 2025 season, the six-foot-three youngster played eight times on loan with Swinton Lions, alongside his duties with our Reserves team, where he was named the Saints’ Reserves Player of the Year.

Jake made his official St.Helens and Super League debut in September 2025 in a home victory over Castleford Tigers.

At the time of this announcement, Davies has scored a try in each of his last three matches. He has emerged as a breakthrough talent at the top level, shining with his performances in the second row amid injuries to the squad in the early part of the campaign.

A delighted Jake Davies told saintsrlfc.com: “I’m excited for the future and excited to get it done as early as possible and then focus on my rugby for the rest of the year.”

Keen to steadily progress as an emerging talent, Davies knows he still has to develop his role and to take opportunities when they come.

“I’ve been given a lot more game time than I might have expected at the start of the year, but as long as I’m playing, I’m happy, whether it’s for the Reserves or on loan.

“I have to stay hard-working, diligent, and you will get there in the end if you deserve it. That’s kind of what I’ve been telling myself and pushing myself to do since joining the Club.”

As a member of our group of young Saints players who are proving their value in the elite environment, Jake enjoys working alongside teammates he has known throughout his time at St.Helens.

“There’s a good nucleus that we can build off for the next few years, and we’ve played together for three or four years – even longer for me, Harry [Robertson] and Owen [Dagnall] coming through our junior club together. It’s a positive and good for the future of the Club.”

St.Helens Head Coach Paul Rowley commented on Davies’ extension: It’s fantastic news for the Club that another young man has come through our development conveyor belt, and that the environment has been good to him. So, I am delighted with the news that Jake has agreed to a contract extension with us.

“I’ve found Jake really receptive, willing to learn, and he is a very chilled individual, so it’s been very enjoyable to work with him. He has a lot of potential, and he knows what his challenges are, but at such a young age he has a lot to look forward to.”
