Up next: Cup Semi-Final Weekend

St.Helens' First Team and Women's team both have a chance to book their spots at Wembley Stadium for the Betfred Challenge Cup Finals as part of a bumper weekend of Semi-Final action for our club!

The Saints Men & Women are both just 80 minutes away from the biggest stage at the national stadium.

Here’s the run down on all you need to know for both fixtures.

SATURDAY – ST.HELENS VS WIGAN WARRIORS

  • Betfred Challenge Cup Semi-Final
  • 2:30pm KO
  • Halliwell Jones Stadium, Warrington
  • Tickets available online – click here

First up, Paul Rowley’s First Team will face our oldest and fiercest rivals, the Wigan Warriors, in Warrington. The Saints and Wigan will meet at least four times in the 2026 season, the first of which was back on Good Friday and was an epic, as the Red V fought back from 14 points down in the final ten minutes to win 34-24 at the BrewDog Stadium.

This upcoming semi-final will be the next meeting, followed by the Magic Weekend clash at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, the home of Everton Football Club, at the start of July. The fourth derby match will then be Wigan’s home ground at the end of July. The Warriors will be highly charged, looking for revenge following the Easter meeting.

St.Helens began their Challenge Cup campaign in early February with a dominant 2-98 win away at Workington Town, their first meeting in 30 years. A tough fourth round tie followed at Castleford, where a gritty display secured an 8-32 victory. In the quarter finals, Paul Rowley’s side delivered a professional performance to beat Catalans Dragons 36-4 at the BrewDog Stadium and book their place in the semi-finals.

SUNDAY – ST.HELENS WOMEN VS LEEDS RHINOS WOMEN

  • Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup Semi-Final
  • 1pm KO
  • Eco-Power Stadium, Doncaster
  • Tickets available online – click here

On Sunday, Craig Richards and Derek Hardman’s St.Helens side will meet old foes Leeds for the first time this season. The Saints and the Rhinos have history in the Women’s Challenge Cup, as the first Women’s Rugby League teams to take to the big stage in the 2023 and 2024 Finals – both of which were won by the Saints.

Captain Jodie Cunningham has led St.Helens Women to a strong start this year so far. It started with the Group Stage and an away win over Huddersfield 14-44, followed by a professional battling win over Catalans Dragons in a first-ever meeting between the two teams, 62-4. By topping Group A, St.Helens earned a home quarter-final against Barrow Raiders, and a dominant first half led to a 68-4 victory.

Should the Saints Women beat the Rhinos, it would mark their sixth consecutive appearance in the Women’s Challenge Cup Final and give them a chance to get back to Wembley and fight to win back the trophy they held for four straight years.
