St.Helens' Tristan Sailor is on the six-man shortlist for the Glen's Vodka Player of the Month for April 2026.
‘Trist’ has enjoyed an impressive month, as the Saints recorded four wins from four games, with our number six playing a big role in all of them.
Starting off with the Good Friday Derby against Wigan Warriors, Sailor got our points going with a wonderful flick pass assist to Matt Whitley, who grabbed our first try of the game. However, whilst Bill Leyland got the headlines for his two late tries to seal the game, Tristan’s try just before was just as important. His five converted kicks were also crucial as the resilient Red V fought back to win against our oldest rivals.
Next up was the Quarter-Final of the Challenge Cup against Catalans Dragons. Our second in the contest was a remarkable finish: Daryl Clark kicked from dummy half, close to the line, and a direct short kick was caught by the speedy Sailor and grounded. Tristan also set up two tries as we booked our spot in the final four, with a smart, quick pass to Jake Davies to send him in for his first-ever Saints score, and then, by evading a tackle on a scrum play, he set up Owen Dagnall in the corner.
Our third match of April saw the Saints head to West Hull to take on the Black & Whites, and Tristan again proved to be important. A threading of the needle style kick on the right edge into the corner set Kyle Feldt up for a great try. However, his four conversions in the fixture also ensured we left the MKM Stadium with the league points, in what was an emotionally charged evening due to the news surrounding their then Head Coach.
Closing out the month, Sailor showed his quick burst of speed after Harry Robertson made an interception to move us into Wakefield’s half at the BrewDog Stadium. Jackson Hastings flung the ball out to our #6, and Trist put on the afterburners to beat the defence and score in front of the West Stand.
