St.Helens is delighted to announce the signing of exciting fullback Anna Dennis for our Women's squad!
A versatile outside back capable of playing across the backline, but most at home at fullback, Anna adds further competition to the Red V Women’s ranks ahead of the Betfred Women’s Super League season split.
The 20-year-old joins the Saints after impressing with Salford, where she has been a standout performer over the past two seasons.
Dennis began her sporting journey in football before moving into rugby union and touch rugby. She later made the switch to rugby league with Wigan St Judes, spending time in the Warriors Academy before spells with Warrington and Salford.
Speaking about becoming a St.Helens Women’s player, Anna Dennis told saintsrlfc.com: “I’m really excited! It’s been a bit crazy, and this feels like a fresh start. I’ve been training with the girls already, and it’s a really good, professional group, so it’s been a positive start.”
Eager to learn from the experienced players around her, Dennis believes St.Helens is the ideal environment to continue her development.
“Coming into this squad, there are so many players who have performed at the highest level. I’m definitely trying to be a sponge and learn as much as I can!
“You can tell straight away it’s a high-performance environment, and there’s so much knowledge around the group.”
Dennis also believes joining the Saints ahead of the Women’s Super League split gives her the perfect opportunity to test herself at the highest level.
“The split is exciting. It’s a bit of an unknown for me and a great challenge. I couldn’t ask for a better group to be coming into at this stage of the season.”
St.Helens Women’s Head Coach Derek Hardman welcomed Anna to the Club and said: “Anna is a really exciting talent. She’s someone we’ve been keeping an eye on for a few months, and we’ve had a lot of positive feedback about her. We’re excited to see what she can do, and we definitely think she’ll add something to our squad.”
Commenting on Dennis adding further competition to the Saints’ outside backs, Hardman added: “It’s important to have as much competition as we can. The fact that she can play numerous positions is a real benefit for our squad. That competitiveness is something we’re looking for as we go into the split.”
