Saints’ team news ahead of hosting Hull FC

Interim Head Coach Eamon O'Carroll has announced his 21-man St.Helens squad that will take on Hull FC on Thursday night.

R Whittle Ltd. sponsors St.Helens First Team 21-man squad announcements.

It is a double header at the BrewDog Stadium on Thursday night, with our Women’s and First Team both in action.

  • St.Helens Women vs Wigan Warriors Women – 5:15pm kick-off –  Betfred Women’s Super League – Super Four – Round 1
  • St.Helens vs Hull FC – 8pm kick-off – Betfred Super League – Round 22

The Saints men are aiming to bounce back from recent defeats, the latest of which was a thrilling 34-32 loss to York Knights at the LNER Community Stadium last Saturday. The Red V fought back well to make it a gripping finish, but it was not to be. That should give even more motivation for the S-Men to respond and get a win in front of our home fans.

Hull FC are also looking for form, having lost their last seven matches, most recently a 22-16 defeat to Huddersfield Giants.

The Steve Prescott Cup is also on the line this Thursday night, and a win would give the Red V their third consecutive year of holding the trophy that honours a Saints and Hull great. Back in April, Saints won 14-24 at the MKM Stadium, giving us as the hosts a ten-point advantage in the annual contest.

📰 SQUAD NEWS

Coach O’Carroll makes two changes to the squad he confirmed for last Saturday’s away match against York.

It is a big boost to see George Whitby back in contention after knee surgery at the end of June. Young prop Matty Evans also returns to the 21-man selection after following return-to-play protocols due to a failed Head Injury Assessment in the Saints’ away match against Wigan a fortnight ago.

Young Saints Tyler McGann and Alfie Tate are the players who come out of the squad this week.

Interim Head Coach Eamon O’Carroll will preview the match with the media at the Club’s weekly press conference on Wednesday afternoon, which will offer the latest update surrounding his squad.

Saints supporters can watch it on demand and in full on Saints TV.
