Interim Head Coach Eamon O'Carroll speaks to the press ahead of St.Helens' Round 24 home clash against Castleford Tigers on Saturday afternoon.
O’Carroll is expecting a tough test when the Red V welcome the Tigers to our ground on Saturday. The Saints are looking to build on last weekend’s win at Wakefield Trinity, with our coach pleased with the squad’s spirit and work in training. He knows Castleford will provide a difficult challenge and believes his side must improve again to back up their recent performance.
There was positive news on the injury front, with Mark Percival training with the team and being given a chance to feature, and Deon Cross is also set to return.
Meanwhile, Lewis Murphy is awaiting further scan results after suffering an injury at the DIY Kitchens Stadium. David Klemmer is progressing well from a broken rib and has started some light contact work, although he remains a number of weeks away.
Youngster Oscar Knox has also been included in the 21-man squad after impressing following his return from injury.
With Saints still chasing a place in the top six of the league table, O’Carroll knows Saturday’s clash is another important step, and he believes his side are well prepared and ready for the challenge.
