Jackson Hastings, Alex Walmsley and Chris Matagi have been charged by the Match Review Panel following last Saturday's Betfred Super League match against Castleford Tigers.
The Saints were victorious over the Tigers, running in 30 unanswered points in the first half before going down to 12 men in the second winning 36-12, finishing the match on the field with 10 players.
Hastings was shown a red card following an altercation with Castleford’s Tyler Dupree, who was shown a yellow card, in the final moments of the first half. Hastings has been issued 16 Penalty Points for a Grade E ‘Punching’ charge from the fixture, and as a result of that he has been sanctioned a three-match penalty notice. Therefore, Hastings will not be available for selection for St.Helens upcoming matches against Leeds at home, Leigh away and Hull KR at home.
Both Alex Walmsley and Chris Matagi were shown yellow cards last Saturday afternoon, and have been issued Grade A charges with 1 Penalty Point each. There is no further sanction for the two forwards. Walmsley’s was for a ‘Late contact on passer’, whilst Matagi’s was for ‘Dangerous contact’.
The total Penalty Points Tally from the previous 12 months for the three players is now the following: Hastings is on 20,25, Walmsley is on 2.25, and Matagi is on 1.
Charges are under the on-field sentencing guidelines for 2026.
