Cross is relishing the chance to take on Leigh on Friday night as Saints look to keep their play-off hopes alive against the Leopards.
Deon reflected on his journey back to fitness following a bicep injury, making his return two weeks ago in Saints’ victory over Castleford. He also looked back on last week’s tough defeat to Leeds Rhinos and the valuable lessons the young Saints side took from the experience.
With Leigh expecting a near sell-out crowd, Cross is anticipating a hostile atmosphere at the Leopards’ Den, but believes it will be a fantastic experience for some of Saints’ younger players. The back knows they will have to embrace the occasion, while making clear that they are not travelling simply to take part — they are going in search of a crucial victory.
Cross also paid tribute to Mark Percival following the legendary Saints centre’s announcement that he would retire at the end of the season. He reflected on the impact Mark has had on the club and those fortunate enough to play alongside him.
