Interim Head Coach Eamon O'Carroll reviewed Saints' 36-12 victory over Hull KR in Round 27 of the Betfred Super League.
O’Carroll explained how pleased he was to see St.Helens finish their 2026 campaign with victory over Hull KR, admitting it was particularly special to be able to send Jonny Lomax and Mark Percival off with a win in front of the Saints faithful.
The interim Head Coach reflected on the significance of the occasion, with two Saints legends making their final appearances in the Red V. O’Carroll spoke of his pride in seeing both players bow out with a victory in front of the home crowd.
It was also an emotional evening for O’Carroll, who will depart the club himself at the end of the season to pursue an opportunity in rugby union. He reflected on his seven weeks in charge, describing it as an honour to lead the club and admitting his disappointment at Saints missing out on the play-offs for the first time, while remaining proud of the efforts of his playing group.
O’Carroll also praised the young players who have stepped up during a challenging period, believing the experience they have gained will benefit the club moving forward and leave a positive foundation for the future.
He also paid tribute to long-serving staff member Nathan Mill, who will also leave the club after more than a decade of outstanding service to St Helens, acknowledging the huge contribution he has made during his time with the club.
