Mark Percival signs contract extension with St.Helens

St.Helens R.F.C. is delighted to confirm that England international and star centre Mark Percival has signed a one-year contract extension, keeping him at the Club until at least the end of the 2027 season.

Mark Percival is proudly sponsored by Proicere.

The one-club man has put pen to paper on a new deal to ensure he will remain with the Club beyond the end of this current season and continue his rugby league journey where it all began as a fourteen-year-old, when he first joined the Saints Academy system.

A modern-day legend of the Saints, Percival is firmly established as one of the very best centres in the Betfred Super League, with a trophy-laden CV to match that billing. So far in his career, Mark has been involved with five Super League title-winning teams and has also won four League Leaders’ Shields, a Challenge Cup and a World Club Challenge.

Affectionately known by the Saints faithful as ‘The Prince’, Percival was awarded a Testimonial year in 2023 in recognition of over ten years of service for the Club and the sport of rugby league in this country.

To date, the 31-year-old has made 266 appearances for St.Helens, scoring 129 tries and kicking 383 goals for a total of 1,282 points.

This year marks our #4’s fourteenth season representing the Red V, and this new contract will take him into his fifteenth.

An overjoyed Mark Percival spoke to saintsrlfc.com and said: “I have always wanted to be at this club, and now I’ve got another year’s extension to keep playing here, it feels unbelievable.

“I love this club, so I’m glad to get this deal over the line and get it done.”

Never one to rest on his laurels, Percival is targeting more trophies to be added to his haul.

“I’ve been lucky enough to win things, but I want to win more. I want to be involved in big games and win big games for Saints because I’ve had that feeling, and it is honestly the best feeling in the world.

“I have that competitive edge in me, and it’s one of the main reasons I want to stay, because I want to win and give everything I’ve got, like I always have done.

“This is home, and I’ll keep giving all I’ve got until I’ve got nothing left.”

In a heartfelt message directly to St.Helens fans, Mark expressed his deep appreciation for the support he has received over the years.

“It can be difficult at times when you pick up injuries, and people may think you’re injured more than you are, and I can’t thank the fans enough because they’ve always supported me.

“I feel like I’ve still got a lot left to give, and I want to show that this season and next. Hopefully, I can keep my body in good condition and keep going. I want to do that for the fans and for my family as well.

“My family are my biggest supporters. They’re there every week, and they’ve followed my career all the way through since I was a kid, and I owe them a lot too.”

Head Coach Paul Rowley added: “It is great news that Mark will be staying with the Club for a further 12 months beyond the end of this year.

“What he brings to the team, both on and off the field, is immeasurable. I can say on behalf of all the players and coaching staff, we are absolutely delighted that Percy will remain a Saint, and we look forward to a successful year this year and beyond.”
