St.Helens Head Coach Paul Rowley spoke to the press following his side's 8-32 victory over Castleford Tigers in the Fourth Round of the Betfred Challenge Cup.
Rowley felt the game was a tough, physical contest, but was pleased with how his side stuck to their plan and came away with a win.
A key period came when the Saints were forced to defend their line under heavy pressure, and were missing a man due to a sin bin. However, their determination during that spell helped them stay in control before going on to score more points and see off the game.
The Red V had to cope with plenty of disruption during the match, including losing both hookers, Daryl Clark & Jake Burns, to HIAs and being forced into several positional changes. Curtis Sironen also appears to have suffered a calf injury, adding further adversity to the Saints’ injured squad list.
Despite the difficulties, Rowley was encouraged by the way the team continues to find ways to win despite having a growing number of players unavailable. He highlighted the character and mentality of the players as a team.
