Head Coach Paul Rowley speaks to Saints TV ahead of his side closing out Magic WKND 2026, which will take place at Everton FC's Hill Dickinson Stadium.
St.Helens will face our oldest and fiercest rivals, the Wigan Warriors, to close out Sunday’s action at 5:30pm.
Rowley says his side are excited to round off the big weekend of action. After last week’s win over the Bradford Bulls, the squad has enjoyed a good week of preparation so far. Jacob Host made a successful comeback at Odsal, while Daryl Clark is back in contention for this weekend’s derby.
The Saints boss has been pleased with the way players have stepped up to combat our extensive injury list, with the rise of our young core of talent, earning valuable match minutes. Rowley was equally happy for Jacob Douglas after the winger made his Saints debut against Bradford, praising his patience and hard work, which saw him earn his chance. Rowley believes the club’s mix of experienced players and young talent is helping the squad continue to develop.
Rowley also spoke with great passion about the club’s strong links with both Everton and Liverpool and hopes more football supporters will come along to watch the Saints in the future, with St.Helens being Merseyside’s closest rugby league team.
