Jed Cartwright joins the Saints

St.Helens R.F.C. have confirmed the signing of imposing forward Jed Cartwright on an initial loan deal, with a view to making the move permanent until the end of the 2026 Betfred Super League season.

Standing at six feet four inches tall, the Australian adds further size and power to the Saints’ forward pack.

The 29-year-old arrives at the BrewDog Stadium from Hull FC, where he has been since June 2024. He made 23 appearances for the Black & Whites, scoring seven tries.

The son of current Catalans Dragons Head Coach John Cartwright, Jed is a product of the Penrith Panthers youth system and made his NRL debut in 2019. He joined South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2020, where he played alongside current Saints teammates Jacob Host and Daniel Suluka-Fifita, before moving to Newcastle Knights ahead of the 2024 season.

Speaking about joining the Saints, Jed Cartwright said to saintsrlfc.com: “I’m really excited. Saints is one of the teams you always hear about back in Australia. It just shows how successful the Club is, and I couldn’t be more excited or happy to be joining.

“I’ve played against St.Helens a couple of times and watched a lot of their games. The fans are really passionate and seem to live and breathe rugby. I’m ready to come over, give my all, and hopefully make a good impression.

“I want to bring impact and energy. I’m a very competitive person, and I pride myself on giving everything every week. That’s what I’ll be bringing with me.”

St.Helens Head Coach Paul Rowley commented: “When we found out that Jed was available, it was a no-brainer for us. We’re obviously short on troops, so the opportunity to bring someone of Jed’s quality on board was too good to miss.

“We’re really appreciative of Hull FC’s cooperation and look forward to seeing Jed in a Saints shirt.”
