St.Helens back-rower Jake Davies speaks to Saints TV ahead of Friday night's home game against Catalans Dragons.
The rising star says the team are determined to bounce back from last weekend’s disappointing home defeat. Davies said Monday’s review was extremely honest, with the squad looking closely at both their performance and the effort levels needed to improve. The focus is on learning from the defeat and putting things right.
He believes a fast start will be crucial against the Dragons after Saints made life difficult for themselves early in their last outing. Davies also stressed that injuries are no excuse, backing the players coming into the side to make a positive impact and take their opportunity.
With several Academy Saints now featuring in the First Team, Davies is confident he and his fellow younger teammates are ready to step up. He knows their quality from coming through the system together and believes they can help drive the team forward.
Looking ahead to Friday, Davies says it’s up to the players to give the supporters something to cheer about, with a strong performance the best way to create a positive atmosphere at the BrewDog Stadium.
