Saints fans it is time to choose The Turmeric Co. Try of the Month for St.Helens' Men's and Women's First Teams from June.
In June, the Saints’ First Team played in four matches, starting with a visit to AMT Headingley Stadium to take on Leeds Rhinos. A strong first half against the league leaders saw the Red V run in three great tries, but the pick of the bunch was right before the half-time hooter. Jack Welsby got the ball from a Mark Percival offload, then kicked cleverly into the left corner, and Tristan Sailor, who was deputising on the wing, scored with a remarkable finish.
Back-to-back home matches followed, firstly against Warrington Wolves. The Saints lost Jonny Lomax due to a fractured jaw in the game, and Tristan again showed his worth with some instinctive play. He received the ball from dummy half, about 10m out, saw a gap, kicked ahead to regather the ball and score.
The Giants came to the BrewDog Stadium next, and more reshuffling saw Jake Davies moved out onto the wing in the closing stages, but boy did he make the most of it. Two tries scored in the corner, but his first was all the more memorable as he dived in like he had been a wingman throughout his young career!
June finished with the Saints Men going to Odsal for the first time in 12 years. Jack Welsby grabbed a double on the night, both of which came off the boot of Jackson Hastings. Our #1’s second was a beauty, with a weighted kick lingering perfectly in the in-goal, and Welsby racing to the ball sharply.
That’s four tries of the seventeen scored that we have shortlisted, now we want you to choose the winner by commenting on our social media posts!

Saints fans are also being asked to choose our Women’s Try of the Month for June 2026.
Four matches were played, kicking off with a close contest against Huddersfield at Thatto Heath Crusaders. Two tries from that game have been picked in the vote, firstly Rachael Woosey’s effort to finish off some great play to the left edge, evading several defenders to get it down. Then the match-winner by Faye Gaskin was a trademark Gaskin run close to the line, but she had plenty to do to get it down.
A visit to Post Office Road to take on Featherstone Rovers Women followed. St.Helens ran in ten four-pointers on the day, but Faye Gaskin’s was the pick of the bunch thanks to her short pass setting Emily Rudge free; the back-rower drew in two Fev defenders, and she fed the ball back in to Gaskin to finish.
The Saints lost to Leeds Rhinos at home in a disappointing defeat, before going to Edge Hall Road to face old foes Wigan. The Derby produced a thriller, and the Saints almost came from behind to nick it, but the hosting Warriors held on. Saints youngster Mia Drescher stepped into the halves and showed some real class, her try especially near the line fooling some Wigan players to get herself on the scoresheet.
Just like the Men’s Try of the Month, we are asking our fans to choose the winner by commenting on our social media posts!
