Saints squad named for York away

Interim Head Coach Eamon O'Carroll has confirmed his 21-man St.Helens squad that will face York Knights this Saturday evening.

R Whittle Ltd. sponsors St.Helens First Team 21-man squad announcements.

This upcoming match against the Knights is part of Round 21 of the 2026 Betfred Super League and will take place at the LNER Community Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 5:30pm.

The Saints are determined to reclaim their winning form after suffering a heavy 38-16 defeat to Wigan Warriors at the Brick Community Stadium.

York is also seeking a response following their recent defeat to Huddersfield Giants, who currently occupy the bottom spot in the league. Currently 11th in the table, York has won six games in their inaugural Super League campaign.

Earlier this year, the Red V triumphed over York 40-10 at the BrewDog Stadium and are keen to secure a league double against Mark Applegarth’s side on their visit to North Yorkshire.

Eamon O’Carroll will preview the match with the media at his weekly press conference on Thursday afternoon. Fans can watch it back in full on Saints TV.

📰 SQUAD NEWS

O’Carroll makes three changes to the squad from Round 20, with star prop Alex Walmsley returning to the fold after following return-to-play protocols due to a failed Head Injury Assessment during the Saints’ Magic Weekend game against Wigan.

Young Saints forwards Chris Matagi and Alfie Tate are also called into the squad heading to York.

Stepping out of the 21-man squad are George Delaney, Matty Evans and Jed Cartwright, all of whom suffered injuries in last week’s game against Wigan. As was confirmed on Wednesday night, the Saints will be without Delaney for the remainder of the 2026 season following shoulder surgery. Evans is now following return-to-play protocols after a failed HIA, and Cartwright suffered a quad injury which is expected to keep him sidelined for around four weeks.
