Following the conclusion of the Betfred Women's Super League regular season, St.Helens Women now enter an exciting new competition with the 'Super Four' set to get underway this week!
After seven rounds of the regular season, the league has now split into two divisions of four: the Super League and Shield Competition.
The top four and bottom four sides will face each other home and away in the newly introduced format, with every result in the Super Four proving crucial in the race for the 2026 Betfred Women’s Super League title. Our Saints Women are joined by Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors and York Valkyrie in this second phase of the BWSL competition.
St.Helens Women will start their Super Four campaign against fierce rivals Wigan Warriors Women on Thursday evening as part of a double-header at the BrewDog Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 5:15pm.
The Super Four will determine this year’s Grand Finalists, with the team finishing top of the table earning automatic qualification and home advantage for the Grand Final. The sides finishing second and third will then meet in a play-off, hosted by the second-placed team, to determine who will face the League Leaders’ Shield winners in the Betfred Women’s Super League Grand Final.
The Warriors come to our ground in strong form, top of the Super League table and are yet to be beaten in 2026. However, Saints will be eager to lay down a marker as they begin the next stage of their campaign in front of the Saints faithful at home.
Saints Women and Wigan have met twice already this season; the Warriors won the Challenge Cup Final at Wembley with a 54-6 victory that truly stung. St.Helens responded with a much-improved performance in Round 6, fighting to the very end away at Edge Hall Road, but the hosts narrowly held on for a 32-28 win.
Thursday’s clash forms part of a bumper evening of action at the BrewDog Stadium. St.Helens Women get proceedings underway against Wigan, before the First Team take to the field at 8pm when they host Hull FC in Round 22 of the Betfred Super League.

⏪ LAST TIME AGAINST WIGAN
The Saints Women were determined to overcome the sting of their underwhelming performance at the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup Final at Wembley a month prior when they made the short trip across Billinge Hill to face Wigan.
Wigan, on home turf, knew that the Red V were resilient and looking for a small slice of revenge. It was a game not to be missed, as two of the very best Women’s Rugby League teams collided.
