Blockbusting centre Solomona Faataape will join St.Helens from the 2027 season!
The Australian centre has put pen to paper on a two-year contract with the Club, keeping him in the famous Red V until at least the end of the 2028 season.
St.Helens have secured the signing of Faataape ahead of a number of other interested parties, bringing one of the competition’s most exciting outside backs to the Club from 2027.
The 25-year-old has been one of the star performers for Catalans Dragons in 2026, scoring nine tries in 23 appearances for the French side so far, and has captured the attention of supporters throughout the season.
Ahead of his move to the northern hemisphere, Faataape won the Queensland Cup with the Brisbane Tigers in 2023 before joining the Wests Tigers for the 2024 season, where he made his NRL debut. During his two seasons with Wests, Solomona played 19 times and scored seven tries before joining Catalans.
Eligible to play for Australia, New Zealand or Samoa, our new electric centre will link up with our squad later this year to begin his first Saints pre-season.
Speaking to saintsrlfc.com, Solomona Faataape said: “I am beyond excited! I’ve been playing this year with a few of the boys who know a lot about the Club, and they’ve shared with me just how rich in history Saints is, and how passionate the fans are.
“I want to be successful, and St.Helens demands success. That’s one of the biggest reasons why I am joining. Every game against Saints is going to be a big game; it’s such a huge Club, everyone knows that, so to be joining is pretty awesome.
“Saints hold very high standards, and I see myself improving as a player by joining. I’m so excited about what I can become as a player and as a person as well.”
St.Helens agreed a fee with Catalans Dragons to sign Solomona from the 2027 season, with the centre having another year remaining on his deal in France. The Saints’ determination to bring him into the Club has only added to Solomona’s anticipation to get started.
“It’s one of the best feelings, having a Club, especially Saints, go out of their way to make a deal happen to get you as a player; it builds the confidence within yourself. I want to give that belief back to the Club and the fans to show how grateful I am, and to put my best foot forward for the team.”
In a message to the Saints faithful, Faataape added: “I love the fans’ passion; they are just as passionate as we are as players, and I can’t wait for 2027 because it’s going to be a big year.
“Having the fans’ support will be awesome, and I can’t wait to get out there, meet and get to know as many fans as I can. That’s what I love about the sport, and I’m truly excited to get started!”
