As we come to the end of St.Helens’ 2026 Betfred Super League season, the Saints can now confirm the players who will be departing the Club at the end of the campaign.
To all our Saints players who are bringing their time with the Club to a close, we thank you for your efforts and wish you well with what comes next on your journey. Remember: ‘Once A Saint, Always A Saint’.
Following the full-time hooter of our Round 27 match at the BrewDog Stadium on Friday, 11th September 2026, St.Helens supporters are encouraged to stay in the ground as together we applaud the efforts of our departing players and thank them for their efforts in the Red V.
Jonny Lomax – #1178
One of the modern-day legends of our sport, Lomax joined the Saints’ youth system at 11 before progressing through the Saints Academy and making his First Team debut in 2009.
St.Helens has been his only professional club, with the England and Great Britain international becoming one of the Club’s most respected and loyal servants.
Earlier this season, Lomax reached 400 career appearances. He has represented England 11 times and Great Britain four times, while scoring 142 tries, kicking 131 goals and seven drop goals for a career total of 837 points.
A five-time Super League champion and four-time League Leaders’ Shield winner, Lomax was part of the Saints side that secured four consecutive Grand Final victories between 2019 and 2022, winning the Harry Sunderland Trophy in 2022. He has also lifted the Challenge Cup and World Club Challenge and has been selected in the Super League Dream Team three times.

Mark Percival – #1203
Lovingly known as ‘The Prince’ by Saints fans, Percival joined the Club’s youth ranks at 14 before progressing through the Saints Academy, earning selection on our 2012 Academy Tour. He made his Super League and Saints debut against Leeds Rhinos in March 2013 and will retire as a true one-club man after dedicating his entire professional career to St.Helens.
A true icon and one of the finest centres of the Super League era, Percival has won five Super League titles, four League Leaders’ Shields, a Challenge Cup and a World Club Challenge. He has also represented England six times, including at the 2017 Rugby League World Cup, and was named in the Super League Dream Team three times.
A player who never gave anything less than 100% on the field for St.Helens. Our Prince.
Jackson Hastings – #1303
The former Man of Steel joined the Saints ahead of the 2026 season on a one-year contract.
Following injuries to Matty Lees, he has served as the Saints’ captain on matchdays and was honoured to be given that role.
In the half-back role, he has guided the Red V around the park and has proven to be essential to much of our play this season, with 29 try assists in the Super League.
Jackson made 26 appearances, scoring four tries and kicking 93 goals for a total points tally of 202.

Alfie Sinclair – #1295
Prop forward Sinclair has been with the Saints since he was 14, coming through our youth development ranks to be a key forward during his time in our Academy and Reserves teams.
Alfie was part of the Academy team that secured the top spot in the 2023 and 2024 seasons, and an Academy title in 2023 with a Grand Final victory.
In 2024, Sinclair was a starting prop in the Red V’s Reserves Grand Final victory over Wigan and was named Reserves Player of the Year for that season too. A move up to the First Team followed in 2025, with the front-rower making his official St.Helens debut against West Hull in the Challenge Cup.
Alfie made his Super League bow in March 2026, coming off the bench in the Saints’ win over Toulouse Olympique in France.
Sinclair played five times for St.Helens’ First Team and was a senior figure for the Reserves team over the past two seasons. He also featured on loan for Swinton Lions and Whitehaven.

Cole Marsh – #1316
A local lad and proud product of the Saints Academy, Cole joined the Saints from local side Blackbrook Royals.
He joined our First Team squad in 2025 after impressing in the Saints Academy. He was part of the team that secured the top spot in the 2023 and 2024 seasons, and an Academy title in 2023 with a Grand Final victory.
Throughout the 2026 season, Cole featured for the Saints Reserves as captain, and when injuries mounted up in the senior squad, Cole was included in the senior 21-man squad over the summer before making his debut in the Round 19 win over Catalans Dragons.
A terrific young man. Thank you for your time with the Saints, Cole, and good luck.
Leon Cowen – #1299
Joining our Under-18s on an initial trial in April 2022 as a late recruit, Leon was determined to earn an opportunity with the Saints.
He quickly made the most of his opportunities, featuring in an Academy semi-final during his first year. His performances earned him a larger role in 2023, when he was named Academy captain and led our young team to victory in the 2023 Academy Grand Final.
Cowen stepped up to the First Team in 2024 and made his professional debut on dual registration with Swinton Lions, starting at loose forward in the Saints’ 2024 Reserves Grand Final victory.
In 2025, Cowen went out on loan to Halifax Panthers, but during the 2025 season, he made his official St.Helens and Super League debut at home against Leigh Leopards. This season saw Leon return to Halifax on a season-long loan for 2026.

Chris Matagi – #1314
Son of Suaia Matagi, Chris has been with the Saints since he was 14, joining the Club from community club Siddal in Halifax to become one of our Scholarship players.
After impressing in our Under-16s side, Chris moved up into the Saints Academy and Reserves ranks, making the loose forward position his own. He was selected during his two years in the Academy for the Yorkshire Origin squad, going up against a number of his Saints teammates in the Lancashire side.
In July, when injuries mounted in the Red V’s senior squad, Matagi was selected to make his Super League and St.Helens debut, and he has been a regular off the bench since then.

Luca Walsh
The young French playmaker was spotted playing for his community club in France and was offered the chance to come and experience training with the Saints Academy early in 2025, initially on trial. After impressing, Walsh was given the chance to sign for our Under-18s and play regularly in the halves.
The Frenchman relished playing in our Academy side in 2025 and then featured regularly for the Saints Reserves over the last two seasons.
Ahead of the 2026 campaign, the Frenchman joined the Saints’ First Team environment, training full-time as an aspiring professional player. This year, he made his professional debut on loan with Swinton, playing for the Lions twice, and he also featured once for Whitehaven.
