St.Helens R.F.C. has secured the signing of Sean O’Sullivan from NRL side Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs ahead of the 2027 season!
The 28-year-old half-back makes the move to the UK and is an exciting addition to both the Saints and the Super League competition.
A playmaker with experience from several NRL clubs, O’Sullivan made his debut in 2018 with the Sydney Roosters before spells with the Brisbane Broncos, New Zealand Warriors and Penrith.
Whilst at the Panthers, he caught the eye of many as he deputised alongside Nathan Cleary in 2022 as Penrith won their second of four consecutive NRL titles. He also played a key role in Penrith’s New South Wales Cup-winning team that year.
O’Sullivan then moved on to join the Dolphins for their first three seasons as an NRL team, before joining the Bulldogs in 2026.
O’Sullivan becomes St.Helens’ third recruit ahead of the 2027 season under new Head Coach Kevin Walters, with Solomona Faataape and Christian Tuipulotu also joining the Saints.
Speaking on joining St.Helens, Sean O’Sullivan said: “I can’t put it into words just how excited I am to come over and to be coming to a club like St.Helens. It was a no-brainer for me, and now my family and I can’t wait to get over and be part of the Club.”
The prospect of working under Walters was another major factor in O’Sullivan’s decision to become a Saint, with the half-back believing he can add plenty to the existing squad.
“With the players at Saints and Kevvie coming in, it made so much footy sense for me to join. I feel like my strengths can really help this group achieve.
“I’ve bumped into Kevvie over in Australia, and once he was announced as the coach, it showed the ambitions of the Club. All my talks with him have been super positive, and I know that he and I are going to get on really well, which is a big part of me wanting to come to St.Helens, because I think he can help my footy a lot.”
In a message directly to the Saints faithful, O’Sullivan made it clear his ambition matches the Club’s.
“I’ve heard a lot about how passionate Saints fans are and have seen how successful the Club has been, and I am no different – I’m all in – I want to help bring silverware back and give my all for the jersey every week.
“I can’t wait to connect with the fans and buy into what they want their team to be.”
