STOBART Super League coaches Trent Robinson and Mike Rush, along with Co-operative Championship coach Daryl Powell, have been sanctioned by the RFL for comments made in relation to match officials.
All three coaches, along with Keighley Cougars player Danny Jones, were deemed to be guilty of improper conduct and a breach of the sport’s Respect Policy which states that coaches should conduct themselves at all times and in all situations in a manner that demonstrates leadership, respect for Rugby League and respect for all those that are involved in the game.
Catalan Dragons coach Trent Robinson has been fined £500, £250 of which will be suspended until the end of the 2013 season, following comments he made towards the referee during the half time interval in his side’s Stobart Super League game against Huddersfield Giants on Sunday August 5.
Mike Rush of St Helens has also been handed a £500 suspended fine for comments made about the match referee following St Helens’ game against Wakefield Trinity Wildcats on Sunday August 12.
Daryl Powell, head coach of Co-operative Championship leaders Featherstone Rovers, has been handed a £250 suspended fine for comments he made towards the match referee following his side’s defeat in the Northern Rail Cup Final against Halifax on Sunday July 29.
Keighley Cougars player Danny Jones has received a two game suspension and has also been given a suspended £500 fine after he was found guilty of using foul and abusive language towards the fourth official during Keighley’s Co-operative Championship game against Sheffield Eagles on April 22. Jones was found guilty by an Independent Operational Rules Tribunal appointed by the RFL following an investigation into his conduct whilst acting as trainer during the game.
All four individuals have the right to appeal the decisions under Operational Rule D1:33.
