This week for the Saints

Four games for St.Helens to play this week, all on the road as we finish May and head into June!

St.Helens’ weekly fixture preview – This week for the Saints – is sponsored Joseph James Furniture Outlet.

We start over in East Hull on Friday night with the First Team Saints taking on Hull KR in what is bound to be an enthralling battle.

On Saturday we have two matches with both our Academy teams playing, firstly the Women’s Under 19s are at York, and our Under 18s Men are down the road against Leigh.

Closing out the action, with less than a week until Wembley for the Women’s Challenge Cup Final, our Women’s First Team will take on York who will be out for some revenge after the Semi Final which Saints Women won to return to the national stadium.

Find all the important details for all four matches below.

First Team vs Hull KR (A)

The Saints go to East Hull for what will be our second meeting of the season against the Robins.

Back in March, Hull KR came to the Totally Wicked Stadium in a what was a bruising, physical battle and took home the spoils to win 10-20. Willie Peters’ men have only tasted defeat once so far in the 2025 season, and they have made their home ground a tough place to go too.

Paul Wellens’ Saints are looking to make it three wins in a row after commanding victories in the last fortnight, firstly at home against Catalans Dragons, 40-0, and then last Friday night a dominant away day saw the Red V run riot and win 4-46.

Looking to build a consistent run and progress higher in the league ladder, the Saints will be well and truly fired up for this one, in front of what is bound to be a hostile crowd. Hull KR will also be looking to keep their run of wins rolling just one week out from Wembley and the Challenge Cup Final.

Women’s Academy vs York Valkyrie (A)

Our Under 19s Women are on the hunt for their first win of the season, which almost came last Sunday morning against Huddersfield Giants but they were narrowly beaten by 16-14 after a stronger second half showing.

Graham Cranny’s developing players will have their first standalone fixture against the Valkyrie Academy after two weeks of double headers with the Women’s First Team (who will play in Round 3 of the Betfred Women’s Super League on Sunday.)

  • Kick-off at 11am
  • York St John University, Haxby Road, York, YO31 8TA

Academy vs Leigh Leopards (A)

Our Under 18s Academy are on a three-match winning run after home wins over Castleford Tigers and Hull FC, and an away win over Wigan Warriors.

Derek Traynor’s young Saints take on a Leigh side who are yet to record a win, and will be motivated to do so in their home fixture against a local rival.

Women vs York Valkyrie (A)

The Saints Women take on York Valkyrie for the second time in three weeks, with the last meeting coming in the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup Semi-Final which the Red V won 6-10 to book a return to Wembley for the Final.

In the league though, St.Helens drew their opening match of the WSL season against Leeds, 20-20, fighting from behind to earn the draw, whilst York lost out to Wigan 40-6. Both sides earned their first wins of the league competition last weekend.

Our Saints earned a strong 0-36 away win over Huddersfield Giants, whilst the Valks held off a Rhinos second half fightback for a 24-16 victory.

Lindsay Anfield’s York side will be fired up on their home turf, after being knocked out of the Challenge Cup by Saints for a third successive season in the final four stage. With less than one week to go until Wembley, St.Helens Women will be looking to have some good form ahead of the big showdown with Wigan in London for the Cup trophy, and York will be out to stop that.
