Delaney issued one-match suspension

St.Helens prop George Delaney has been charged by the Match Review Panel following last Friday night's Betfred Super League Round 24 match against Hull KR.

Saints fell to a narrow 12-8 defeat at Sewell Group Craven Park.

The young Saints prop Delaney was shown a yellow card in the 22nd minute of the match, going off the field for ten minutes in the sin bin following a tackle on a Robins man.

Delaney has now been issued 5 Penalty Points for a Grade C ‘Head Contact’ offence by the Match Review Panel following Round 24.

Once a player is past 3 Penalty Points, any subsequent points are halved when a sanction is applied. This is the second instance of Delaney being issued Penalty Points in the 2025 season, with him previously being charged with 5 Penalty Points and issued a fine from Round 21.

That meant that 2.5 Penalty Points were held on his record for the past 12 months, taking his total to 7.5 Penalty Points, and now resulting in a one-match suspension.

For future offences within the next twelve months, Delaney will resume on 5 Penalty Points, after serving his applied sanction of a one-match suspension.

Charges are under the new on-field sentencing guidelines, which have been introduced for 2025.
