Eleven players of the St.Helens Women's squad have been named in the two regional squads ahead of the second Women's Origin match of 2025 on Saturday, 18th October at Boundary Park. That match will kick-off at 2pm in Oldham.
England Women Head Coach Stuart Barrow has named both the Lancashire and Yorkshire squad in preparation of this Women’s Origin clash.
The first Women’s Origin fixture of 2025 was played in August, and it was Lancashire who celebrated a dominant 50-8 victory at Hull KR’s Sewell Group Craven Park. This upcoming clash next Saturday will also include a curtain raiser between Waterhead and Hindley Hinds U13 Girls.
St.Helens are well represented in both squads that have been announced, with Saints being the most represented club. We have seven Saints who have been selected for the Red Rose squad (Lancashire) and four for the White Rose team (Yorkshire).
Beri Salihi, Emily Rudge, Erin McDonald, Katie Mottershead, Luci McColm, Rachael Woosey, and Vicky Whitfield will be in the Lancashire camp. It marks a first Origin call-up for young prop McDonald, who has impressed in the Red V this season. All seven played in the thrilling Betfred Women’s Super League Grand Final this past Sunday.
Amy Hardcastle could mark her on-field return with Yorkshire, after working hard on her rehab following a fibula break which she suffered back in June. Amy is joined by Saints teammates Caitlin Casey, Phoebe Hook, and Shona Hoyle in the Yorkshire squad, all three of which also featured in last Sunday’s Grand Final.

“It’s been another competitive season in Super League with lots of rugby played which means we have picked up a few injuries to each squad ahead of this fixture, but this will give some new names a chance to test themselves whilst representing Lancashire or Yorkshire.”
The Lancashire versus Yorkshire clash will be streamed live on the England Rugby League YouTube channel with entry to Boundary Park free on October 18.
