Apollo Perelini is Strength and Conditioning Coach, a position he has held since 2004.
Ten years earlier ‘The Termininator’ signed for Saints from rugby union ahead of the 1994-95 season, where he joined a young team on the cusp of success.
After two seasons playing winter rugby, Apollo was maturing into a powerful prop when Super League arrived. He scored the final try in Saints’ memorable 40-32 win against Bradford Bulls in the Challenge Cup Final, and a match-winning (and often regarded as a title-winning) last-minute try against London Broncos later in the season.
He was also instrumental in retaining the famous trophy in 1997, once again against the Bulls, as he established himself as one of the most feared and respected players in Super League.
Super League titles followed in 1999 and 2000, with the latter triumph being his 193rd, and final, match in rugby league.
Aged 33, he joined Sale Sharks RU as a player before joining the coaching staff at Saints.
Jon Wilkin recently described one of AP's training regimes as: "Apollo is infamous for his pre-season drills! The worst thing he made us do was a drill we called 'Hamburger Hill'. If you travel towards Bolton through Wigan you pass this hill. We started by doing a lap around the base, then shuttling up a never-ending series of steps before running along the peak and down the other side.
"We did 10 laps and I felt ill for days."
