THE next phase of U14s and U15’s Service Area training is underway.
The sessions are taking place at Portico Vine on a Tuesday evenings and are going really well according to St Helens Service Area co-ordinator Steve Leonard.
“I am happy with the way the sessions are going and the attitude of the players,” he said. “You only have to look at the success rate of the last phase in promoting players onto Scholarships and the Regional Development squads to see how the pathway is bearing fruit. It has never been so clearly in evidence as this year.
“Again it is not only at these age groups, we have players at all ages progressing onto professional contracts and in representing England in both RFL and BARLA squads.
“Again thanks must go to our Community Clubs who have bought into the Pathway and its importance to our game’s strategy.
“A special thanks to Portico Vine for hosting these sessions and for really pushing the boat out to make them work. Thanks also to the Coaches from both the Community Clubs and from Saints who themselves are progressing on the Coaching Pathway – they too will be looking at progressing into Scholarship Coaching / Academy Coaching in the coming months and years.”
