SAINTS duo Matt Daniels and Viv Gillanders (pictured right) have raised more than £1,000 for disabilities sports projects in the local community after completing the Liverpool Marathon on Sunday.
Head of Strength and Conditioning Coach Matt completed the 26.2miles run from Birkenhead to Liverpool City Centre in 3 hours and 29 minutes with Crowd and Academy Doctor Viv Gillanders crossing the line exactly two hours later.
Matt said: “We are both glad with our efforts, it’s a great event particularly as you reach the city centre with the view and the supporters cheering everyone on.
“Both Viv and I would like to thank everyone help donated and we will be letting people know in the coming weeks the projects we will now be able to hold. It’s not too late to support us on our JustGiving website.”
Viv added: “There was a bit of a delay at the start which affected us a bit, but it was an enjoyable experience. Cramp hit in as I approached the Queensway tunnel, but you find a way to carry on and I’m pleased with the time.
“As I was turning to go into Sefton Park I caught a glimpse of Matty finishing and it gave me a real boost. The support has been fantastic, the messages of support on my JustGiving website were always in my mind during the run.
“The Foundation is a wonderful charity and hopefully we have helped highlight some of the great work they do in the community.”
