ACTING Head Coach Mike Rush said he didn’t think Saints were too far away from Wigan on Friday.
His side lost 28-10 to end a two game winning run and now must refocus in time for the Easter Monday trip to Castleford.
“I didn’t think we were that far way,” he said. “At 12-10 we decided to run the ball instead of taking a shot at the penalty as we felt we had the momentum.
“Then there was a decision by the referee on the half way line and that changed the game a little bit.”
He continued: “We did suffer when Jonny Lomax left the field. You need ball players and a bit of push don’t you? It wouldn’t affect you if you had time to prepare beforehand but losing a key player part way through a game is difficult.
“We don’t know how he is but it is a finger injury and will need to be assessed. Jon Wilkin has done his shoulder, but again, until it is assessed we won’t know the prognosis.”
