SAINTS new signing Alex Walmsley has spoken of his delight at winning the Co-operative Championship Young Player of the Year.
He received the honour after a stellar season for Batley Bulldogs.
“I am delighted,” he told Super League TV. “It’s been a great season for Batley and me. Of course we aren’t happy we lost in the first round of the playoffs, but there are a lot of positives and on the whole I have enjoyed it.
“I am excited to join Saints and nervous to have signed for a big club. I am looking forward to it. It’s a dream to play in Super League; I know I have been given a chance and I have to take it.
“All I can say is I will give it my all and see what happens at Saints. I can’t wait for the challenge. I know it will be a progression and I will be at the bottom of the pecking order in Super League but I’m willing to learn.”
