Fogle: League Impresses Me

BEN Fogle was impressed with the pace of Rugby League when he watched a game at Langtree Park earlier in the season.

The TV personality and Typhoo ambassador spoke of how much he enjoyed it when he returned to the club to take part in kicking and tea tasting challenges recently.

He was at Langtree Park asSaints announced the extension of their partnership with the brand.

“It’s important Typhoo support a club like this,” he said. “I could imagine my kids coming here and watching these great rugby league players. It would inspire them onto the pitch and give them dreams and aspirations to follow.

“I was lucky enough to come here earlier in the season and watch a match. Over the last year or two I have got to know the club, meet the players, and I am now beginning to understand the finer points of League. It is really fast, the pace is great.

“My school was union based and I played to not a great level… I’m a wannabe sports person in an untoned body!”

He continued: “There is a great family feel to the game and it very much felt like a club with great local support. League in general across the country is an untapped sport I think.

“Perhaps this is the year for it to change with the World Cup. There will be a lot more focus on League later in the year and maybe more people will want to play it and it will start to grow.”
