ON Thursday 28 November, St Helens’ Langtree Park will play host to a very special dinner in honour of the 1972 Rugby League World Cup winning squad – the last British side to be crowned World Champions – until this year!
All surviving members from the squad will be attending what will be a fantastic celebration of rugby league history. For those no longer with us, family members have been invited.
The evening will be hosted by one of the two British try scorers during the 1972 final; pundit, raconteur and legend Mike Stephenson, and will comprise a champagne reception, three course meal with wine and coffee, and – as well as conversation with the players – a 70s themed disco to the small hours to relive the celebrations following Great Britain’s victory.
The event, organised by MR Sport, is supported by the Rugby League Experience who are bringing 100 touring Australians, and presents a great opportunity to share stories and take part in what should be a truly memorable evening.
Proceeds from ticket sales and a raffle and auction during the evening will go towards Rugby League Cares and the Australian charity Men of League.
