Academy Tour Day 3

THE weather in Sydney is giving the lads plenty to smile about with temperatures at around 35 writes Mike Rush.

Although they enjoy the sun, with two training sessions in the day it makes life hard for players who are used to sunny St Helens.

One of the photos below shows the lads in action; Tommy Martyn is spending time with our young kickers and using the iPad to video and deliver feedback.

Ian Talbot, community coach and Rochdale Head Coach, has also been working with the hookers union.

All the staff have worked really hard and the players have already had five sessions in great weather.

The amount of work carried out would have taken at least two weeks in the winter / off season.

The morning started poor with Killer and Derek Hardman taking two hours to get the smallest shopping list we have ever given to the staff.

Killer blames Derek who he claims went into Cash Converters asking for phone cards. He claims last time he came over here the shop sold them… he clearly didn’t notice it was no longer a newsagent!

Big Ross (McCauley) is making his mark on the trip too with questions such as: “Does this lift go all the way to the top?”

Olly Davies is a close second asking the staff more questions than a whole class of reception kids… the questions are also at the same level. He does keep us all amused.

The lads are now off for another steak or ribs meal so mums don’t worry we are feeding them!

Enjoy the photos… only three days till game one – St George at Kogarah on Sunday (3pm local time).
