PAUL Wellens has been out in South Africa helping England prepare for the World Cup.
Saints Captain is part of the coaching set up as Steve McNamara’s side build up to the tournament.
“I spoke to Steve a few weeks back and he asked if I would be interested coming into the camp and helping out with running messages at games and things like that,” Paul said. “I jumped at the chance and to come out to South Africa and work with the Elite squad is something I am enjoying.
“It’s been four years since I was involved with the national side as a player and since I left it I do miss it. To be back involved is great and I’ve helped out in training too.
“Coaching is something I am very interested in and this is an ideal stepping stone to experience it and see how things work.”
