Saints Girls Top Table

ST.HELENS Girls under 16s have topped their league to set up a game against their Yorkshire counterparts for the National Champion of Champions trophy.

The girls travelled to the home of the Chorley Panthers to play their last and deciding game of the season against Ashton.

Both sides came out in full force but it was Ashton who first put points on the board.

However, it wasn’t long until Danielle Hughes scored the first for Saints with Alisha Lea completing the conversion.

Jade Ward scored a further two tries for the Girls in the first half, with Alisha Lea completing another two conversions.

This left the score 18-12 to the Saints Girls at half time.

The second half proved to be a battle of strengths with Ashton replying with just 12 minutes to go.

But it wasn’t long until Danni Platt and Carys Marsh put their stamp on the Saints Girls’ victory by scoring two consecutive tries.

Everyone at Saints would like to say well done to all of the under 16s team, coaches and volunteers!

Their consistency, determination and passion have made them the league winners and they will now enter the national youth league, starting in August.
