SAINTS face Warrington this Friday buoyed by Saturday’s win over Catalans.
Head Coach Keiron Cunningham said his side deserved the win – and now hopes it can kick start their season.
“The boys deserved everything they got from the game,” he said. “I’ve watched it back a couple of times and if we had lost the game it would have been a travesty. We played well against Hull but were much better against Catalan.
“It was a professional trip from start to finish from the players. We trained well and you could tell in the dressing room beforehand they were ready to do something. In the end we strangled Catalan out of the game and sapped the juice from them.
“We should have scored two or three more tries but when we got the opportunity we did it in style. Theo’s pass was great.
“We cannot count our chickens though and will continue to work hard. The win has been coming and it has been hard fought over the last two weeks. We got what we deserved. I’d like to think we can kick on and keep on improving.”
Keiron added: “We’re looking forward to the game on Friday. Warrington are a great side and will come through this tough period. All the teams that have been playing well have had their nine, six, seven and one playing for them. We haven’t but should be ok this week.
“Warrington are getting theirs back and you will see the best of them in the next two or three weeks. They are building into their season and will come good.
“Tony (Smith) understands the situation and has been through these tough times before. Pressure is coming from external sources but within that group they understand what they have to do to get better.
“When things aren’t going right those passes don’t stick. They will eventually though but I hope it doesn’t come this Friday.
“We are a good side ourselves though and will continue to work exceptionally hard. We have a long old season ahead of us.”
