Justin Holbrook believes the 41-16 win over Wakefield shows Saints are going in the right direction.
“It was a really good performance from us, we knew we needed it and it was really pleasing to see the boys play the way they did,” he said. “James Roby, Danny Richardson and Theo Fages linked up well and I thought Jon Wilkin was outstanding too in that first half.
“We knew how big the game was for both teams and I thought we really turned up. We lost our way in the second half but found it in back end of the game.
“After the Leeds game a lot of people said our season was over and I said I didn’t believe that. I knew we had performed well that night but just didn’t get the two points.
“I knew we had to string some wins together and we have done that. We are right in the mix now and today was another sign of that.”
Justin was also keen to point out the contribution of Danny Richardson and Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook after the game.
“Danny is going well for us. He is loving playing and it is great for us to have him in there – and he will there for weeks to come if he continues playing the way he is. Him and Theo are playing well for us and are combining really well which is what we need.
“Louie has been great too and deserved his try. The boys are enjoying it and we are getting some good results off that.
“Now we have to continue it.
“We have a week off now and of course I would have preferred to have kept on playing. We will have some time off and then look to continue it on.
“We have clawed our way back but we cannot afford to relax at all or we know where we will end up.
“We will enjoy today’s performance and then keep on moving forward.”
