CIC Welcome SCDF For Virtual Dementia Tour

Saints Community Development Foundation’s Steve Leonard was the guest of Community Integrated Care (CIC) on Wednesday and he took part in a virtual dementia tour at Bluebell Park in Huyton

There, he experienced a virtual Dementia Tour with other members of the Community Integrated Care team.

He said: “This was an absolutely powerful insight into life with Dementia. The feeling of not being in control and not comprehending what was going on around me was hard to both take in and deal with.

“The trainer from Training 2 Care was outstanding and gave us a real background of the illness and ways of making people’s lives much more comfortable. Simple practices that will make a massive difference to a person with Dementia and an understanding of why you may get certain reactions in certain situations.

“Overall, the day really opened my eyes to what any one of us could be faced with both from having the illness or caring for a loved one. I would like to thank Sam Brennan, Regional Director of Community Integrated Care, for the invite and continued support of our programmes here at the Foundation. Also the staff and residents of Bluebell Park for having us and to Training 2 Care for such a powerful and enlightening course.”

If you are caring for a loved one with dementia or know someone who does why not bring them along to the Saints Reminiscence Café held here at the Totally Wicked Stadium every other Wednesday.

The next café is Wednesday April 4 at 11am and lunch is provided. There is no charge to attend and no need to book.
