Derby Will Be Great Occasion

Justin Holbrook is looking forward to Friday’s sell-out derby with Wigan.

It’s the most eagerly anticipated clash of the season so far with the League’s two top sides going head to head.

“We’re looking forward to playing in front of a full house,” Justin said. “It wouldn’t matter where the teams are sitting in the League, the derby game is the one everyone talks about and gets up for.

“The fact we both sit at the top and both are playing really well just adds to the excitement. All neutral fans of the game should be really excited by it.

“It’s great we’re at home and it’s awesome to have sold out. For the players and coaches you can’t ask for much more. It is shaping up for a great game.”

Saints will be without Adam Swift for the match after the winger damaged his shoulder in the win at Hull KR on Friday.

However, the good news is he doesn’t need surgery and, providing his rehab goes well, should return in a few weeks.

“We’ve not decided who will slot into that spot yet,” Holbrook added. “Tommy Makinson is likely to go on the wing and Ryan Morgan is fit to play too. We have options though – Ryan can return or we can leave Jonny Lomax in the centres.

“It’s a decision we need to get right.

“Our focus is only on this week’s game and I’m sure that is the same for every team. We will try and do everything we can to win and then assess for Monday. It is tough on the players and not ideal but at least they don’t have to train too much and they get to roll into the next game. They like that.

“It’s good for our game to have more games and more televised ones too. It is good to grow the sport.”
